- Care when requesting a translation service: Prepare the work flow before and after the translation is executed, as colleagues and/or supervisors will invariably want to review the final job. Have the electronic or printed document ready to be translated. Enter the source language and the target language.
- Define the term in which you want the work to be returned to you. When setting the deadline, remember that accidents will happen, and that the deadline should include at least the analysis of the job, the preparation of a glossary that reflects the culture of the institution, translation, assignment, revision and final revision. This process usually makes the work rate about 2500 words a day. List the main specifications and/or expectations related to the job.
- Prepare references for use of the translator (glossaries, previous approved papers, company documents/subject matter, relevant Internet sites and others). Make all communications in writing, via e-mail or social media, so that you do not have doubts about responsibilities, and always ask for confirmation of receiving the communications.
